Day 1 - Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,   Sofia
Your guide meets you at Sofia Airport and assists for your transfer to the hotel and check-in. After a short tour to familiarize you within the hotel’s vicinity, you’ll visit the Synagogue and its museum.

Day 2 - Sofia - Rila Monastery - Sofia

After breakfast, your tour of Sofia begins. We’ll visit the impressive Alexander Nevski Memorial Cathedral, The National Assembly, The Banya Bashi Mosque, The Rotunda of St. George, Roman Ruins, The National Palace of Culture, and take a panoramic tour of The University. You’ll then ride to Rila Monastery - the largest in the Balkans. Founded in the 10th century by St. Ivan Rilsky, with its unrivalled architecture and beautiful murals, you’ll realize why Rila is on the List of World Cultural Heritage! Following lunch in a local restaurant, we’ll return to Sofia to spend the evening.

Day 3 - Sofia - Samokov - Borovets - Plovdiv

After breakfast, we’ll depart for Plovdiv, through the town of Samokov. Following the arrival of the wealthy Arie family in 1793, the Jewish community in Samokov grew greatly in stature. When you visit the Arie House, you’ll observe the elegant 19th century architecture and gain an appreciation for the day-to-day life of a well-to-do Jewish family. After a stop over in beautiful Borovets Mountain Resort, we’ll continue to Plovdiv, Bulgaria's second largest city and one of the oldest in Europe.

Day 4 - Plovdiv

You’ll spend the morning on a sightseeing tour of Plovdiv, not only Bulgaria’s second largest city, but also among the oldest in all of Europe. This partially walking tour includes visits to Plovdiv’s Synagogue, The Old Town, The 2000 year old Roman Theatre, The Byzantine, Medieval Fortifications, and Ethnographical Museum. Stroll the narrow cobbled streets and admire the tranquility of this historic town! An afternoon ride brings you to The Backhovo Monastery, which dates to the 11th Century. Backhovo is well-known for its ossuary and its church, with its well-preserved 11 - 14th century frescoes. En route back to Plovdiv, we’ll visit a local winery for a wine tasting session. Unwind with dinner in a local restaurant in the Old Town and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 - Plovdiv - Sofia

After breakfast, departure to Sofia airport.
